What is the job scheme about?

In July 2020, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced plans to protect, create and support jobs in England, Scotland and Wales.

The government has pledged to invest 2 billion pounds into this new scheme to prevent mass unemployment due to the knock on effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy. They are particularly interested in protecting the future prospects of young people, like yourselves, who are amongst those most affected by this economic turn.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get more money, improve your skills, gain valuable work experience and pave the way to a brighter future.

What the job scheme means for you

  • Hundreds of new Traineeship work placements if you have little or no work experience, the Traineeship Programme could be ideal for you.
  • An Apprenticeship training programme with a paid work placement.
  • Earn whilst you learn valuable skills in your chosen industry.

Fully subsidised 25 hour a week jobs, for long time unemployed people claiming Universal Credit and who are not suitable for an apprenticeships programme.

You will be learning skills and gaining experience that will make you more attractive to future employers.

The schemes will start accepting applications from employers from August 1st 2020.
