About us - Central Training Academy
We are an established training provider in Essex who have recently expanded into Clacton, with our Central Training Clacton centre. With over 40 years in the business offering training and apprenticeships in a wide range of subjects, helping to improve the career prospects of young people has always been at the center of what we do. Our latest offering is a pre-employment programme for 16-19 year olds, with the aim to help young people become more job-ready.
What is the pre-employment programme?
In April 2024, we opened the doors to our new study programme to 16-19 year olds in Clacton; trialling out our Pre-Employment Programme to re-engage young people in the local area. The programme focussed on personal and social development, functional skills in English and Maths, alongside lessons to help learners get work ready and involved in social action projects.
Our first ever course focussing on employability in Essex was a great success, and now we’re back and ready for our next intake of learners brimming with potential, and needing a little guidance to help them on their path.
This September, Central Training Group’s Pre-Employment Programme will run again, from our offices under the Driving Test Centre on Carnarvon Road. With the aim of preparing our learners for work, the programme focusses on personal and social development. This includes topics like life skills, time management and money management, as well as Functional Skills in English and Maths.
Learners also gain a qualification in a vocation of their choice. Options range from Retail, Customer Service and Administration to Hairdressing, Digital & IT Skills and Travel & Tourism, and allow students to gain skills in an area they are interested in. To compliment this, learners must gain some meaningful work experience to help them transition into a workplace. That’s where you come in!
How can Clacton Employers get involved?
Work Experience is and always has been an amazing opportunity for both employers and young people. Through our programme, it gives our young learners the chance to put what they learn into practice and find out if a particular industry is right for them. For a local business owner, it gives the chance to support your community, and the opportunity to scope out future talents for your own business.
There are two ways you can help:
- Offer a work experience placement to a learner in Clacton, where you will mentor or supervise them in a field they are interested in.
- Arrange to come in and talk to our students about your area of work.
