We’re excited to be opening a brand-new Central Training Academy centre in Tilbury this September, creating another local training option for young people across Thurrock.
Based at Inspire Hub, our new centre will offer free courses in Tilbury for eligible 16–19-year-olds, with opportunities also available for young people up to the age of 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
If you’ve finished Year 11 and aren’t sure what comes next, want to build your confidence or simply need some support getting ready for your future, our Tilbury team is here to help.

What can I study in Tilbury?
Personal development and employability skills
Our Personal Development Programme is designed to help you build confidence, develop employability skills and become better prepared for your next step.
You’ll work on areas such as communication, teamwork, personal development and skills for the workplace, alongside Functional Skills in English and maths where appropriate.
The programme is a great option if you don’t know exactly what you want to do yet or need some extra support before progressing into further training, an apprenticeship or employment.
The Tilbury centre opens this September 2026, with learners attending two mandatory days each week and an additional work experience day later in the academic year.
Why join Central Training Academy in Tilbury?
There’s more to your course than gaining a qualification. At our new Tilbury centre, we’ll help you:
- Build your confidence and become more independent.
- Develop employability skills that can help prepare you for the workplace.
- Work towards qualifications and improve your English and maths where needed.
- Get support with your next steps, whether that’s further training, an apprenticeship or employment.
For parents and carers
Not every young person leaves Year 11 knowing exactly what they want to do.
Our Personal Development Programme provides a supportive option for learners who may need more time to build their confidence, develop employability skills and decide what they’d like to work towards.
Our team can talk to you and your young person about the programme, eligibility and progression opportunities, so you can decide together whether it’s the right next step.
Free courses in tilbury for eligible young people
The programme is fully funded for eligible learners aged 16–19, with opportunities also available for young people up to 25 with an EHCP.
Eligible learners may also be able to access financial support towards costs such as travel, meals and essential equipment.
Speak to our team to find out more about eligibility and the support available.
