The Central Hair Competition 2023 got off to a great start with 67 entries received in total. Entries were received from students throughout our Central Hairdressing Academy network with some great hair designs coming through; it’s no wonder why we won the Best Hair and Beauty Apprenticeship Provider Award at the 2023 AAC National Apprenticeship Awards😜
Central Hair Competition goes online
The Central Hair Competition is no new event. It has been around for years! Previously, the Central Hair Competition was an in-person event held at a venue where students would prepare their models with hair and makeup to then be judged by a board of panellists. The event culminated with several winners being announced in an award ceremony.
Sadly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition has not taken place for a few years. However, this year we’re back with a fresh new take on things. We’ve ditched the in-person event and award ceremony and taken the competition to Instagram!
How you can vote in the Central Hair Competition
Voting for the Central Hairdressing Competition 2023 was open for the month of June and followed strict rules including having to follow @centralhairdressing for their vote to be counted. We also carefully scrutinised each vote to make sure the accounts were legit.
We were thrilled to see the votes rolling in! and collectively all entries received well over 1000 likes.

Voting Rules:
Votes are in the form of ‘likes’ and are counted for each entry.
Voting closes at 12:00pm on 30/06/2023.
To cast a vote, the voter must follow @centralhairdressing on Instagram and ‘like’ the post. Only likes on photos posted on the Central Hair London Essex Instagram page are counted.
The look with the most verified likes wins.

Kaci Wood
The race to the finish line was close, but there could only be one winner, and that was Kaci Wood @hair.bykacix 🥳
Kaci is a hair apprentice at Eden, Fairfield @edenfairfield and trains with us at our Central Herts and Beds site

She was greeted with £1000 💷 CASH by our director Martin Kolton MBE.

I wanted to create and unique style that wasn't a traditional hair up, which gave the WOW FACTOR. With this creation I wanted to include three tiers to maximise the volume and height, and give a little edge with a braid. Using research I took inspiration from different images and put them together and added my own visions for the final design.
We are so pleased that we’ve been able to bring the Central Hair Competition back! It is one of our students favourite events to get involved with. We will be returning again next year! So watch this space!
