What skills does an apprentice need before they can start with my business?

Passion, determination, resilience, good communication, a willingness to learn and the ability to work autonomously, are all skills that an ideal trainee or apprentice should possess.

However, we must remember that an individual may not possess all of these skills before they start working with you. Taking on an apprentice is an investment in the future, as they have the chance to learn these basic skills along the way.

For the young people at the beginning of their journey, offering an apprenticeship can make all the difference. Not only will they build vital skills for starting their career like problem-solving, communication, collaboration and teamwork, but they’ll also gain invaluable insights into your business. Along the way, having a great support system is paramount to ensure they’re headed on the right track.

Our experienced tutors will be at hand to work closely with our apprentices and trainees to help them develop these soft skills to sky-rocket their and your future successes.

  • Apprentices aged under 19 and in the first year of their apprenticeship are paid the minimum wage for apprentices.
  • Apprentices over 19 and in their 2nd year of their apprenticeship must be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age group.
