Our exciting Hairdressing Course Level 2 study programme combines two days a week of college-based learning with hands-on work experience in an industry placement. This unique blend of training gives you the chance to develop women’s hairdressing skills in a real salon setting, build your confidence, and prepare for a rewarding career.

Hairdressing Course Level 2 is more than a qualification – it’s a launchpad for your career. You’ll build technical skills in women’s hairdressing, develop professionalism, and gain the confidence to step straight into employment or progress to higher-level study.

  • Industry Days – The chance to visit Salon International Trade Exhibition, one of the UK’s leading events for the hair and beauty industry.  

Students will also be given the opportunity to visit a local wholesaler to explore what is required to set up as a hairdresser. During this trip, you will gain valuable insights into the cost of equipment, products, and resources needed to establish themselves in the industry. 

  • Life Skills – gain an Open University–certified qualification in Money Management for Young Adults, equipping you with essential financial skills. 
  • Pastoral Support – our dedicated team ensures you feel supported both personally and academically every step of the way. 

 

Showcase Your Talent 

Take part in the annual Central Competition, where you’ll not only refine your creative skills but also learn how to promote yourself effectively. From building confidence in self-promotion to using social media to showcase your work, you’ll gain the tools you need to stand out and get ready for your future career. 

 

Supporting Your Future 

If you haven’t yet achieved a Functional Skill or GCSE in Maths or English, don’t worry – we’ll support you to gain these essential qualifications alongside your hairdressing studies, giving you the well-rounded foundation employers are looking for.

One year – full time, 2 days a week plus work experience

Skills Learned:
  • Industry Awareness – gain insight into the structure and opportunities within hairdressing related industries. 
  • Health & Safety Awareness – develop essential knowledge to create a safe and professional salon environment. 
  • Client Consultationlearn how to communicate effectively and meet client needs. 
  • Shampoo & Conditioning Techniquesdevelop the essential foundations of hair care 
  • Promoting Products & Services – develop confidence in advising clients on products and services. 
  • Cutting Women’s Hair – practice the fundamentals of cutting, gain confidence in delivering stylish haircuts. 
  • Styling & Finishing Techniques – create polished looks through dressing and finishing hair. 
  • Colouring & Lightening Essentials – explore the basics of hair colour application. 
  • Perming Hair – understand the core techniques of permanent waving. 
  • Creative Image Design – produce themed looks inspired by the hairdressing industry. 
  • Plaiting & Twisting Skills – experiment with braiding techniques to enhance styling versatility.
