A BIG congratulations to Central Hairdressing Competition 2024 Winner Riley Doherty who Rylie managed to rack up a whooping total of 441 verified likes and over 42,000 views with her stunning wedding hair up design! Entries were received from students throughout our Central Hairdressing Academy network with some great hair designs coming through; it’s no wonder why we won the Best Hair and Beauty Apprenticeship Provider Award at the 2023 AAC National Apprenticeship Awards😜
What was different about Central Hairdressing Competition 2024
This is the second year running that we’ve put our hairdressing competition online, and what a great success it has been. The rules were the same as last year and students were given their brief at the beginning of April. They then had until the end of the month to brainstorm their ideas and make them a reality.
This year we switched up the format a little, allowing students to make a short video clip of their design, allowing their posts to be more dynamic and to showcase their work more effectively.
We ended with a whooping 102 entries from our learners across our centres and salons! Each fantastic in their own right. But there could only be one winner!
Counting the Votes
Voting for the Central Hairdressing Competition 2024 was open for the month of May and followed strict rules including having to follow @centralhairdressing for their vote to be counted. We also carefully scrutinised each vote to make sure the accounts were legit.
The votes kept rolling in, with so many strong contenders. But it was Rylie who had the most verified votes when voting ended. 441 votes for her stunning bridal hair up.

The race to the finish line was close, but there could only be one winner, and that was Rylie Doherty @ryliedohertyhair 🥳
Rylie is a hairdressing apprentice at Central Hair Canvey.
She was greeted with £1000 💷 CASH by our director Martin Kolton MBE.
Congratulations again Rylie 💫
It was more of a wedding inspired hair up with a bit of a twist in it.
We are so pleased that we’ve been able to bring the Central Hair Competition back! It is one of our students favourite events to get involved with. We will be returning again next year! So watch this space!
