Applications are now open for Greater Anglia’s ‘First Step into Rail’ programme – a free, three-week opportunity for young people aged 18 to 25 to gain skills, experience, and confidence working in the railway industry.
Following the success of last year’s pilot, Central Training Academy is once again partnering with Greater Anglia to deliver a unique training experience designed specifically for young people who are currently not in employment, education, or training (NEET).
🚆 What is the First Step into Rail Programme?
The scheme gives ten successful applicants the chance to explore the world of rail through a mix of hands-on station experience and expert-led training sessions. Over three weeks, participants will:
- Shadow frontline Customer Service staff at busy Greater Anglia stations
- Attend classroom-based training sessions at Stratford HQ
- Build confidence, communication and teamwork skills
- Learn about unconscious bias, prejudice, and managing challenging behaviour
- Gain insight into engineering, customer service, and service delivery roles
This is more than just a short course, it’s a stepping stone into a growing industry.
💼 Who is it for?
This opportunity is aimed at young people aged 18 to 25 who are currently not in education, employment, or training. If you’re motivated, willing to learn, and looking for a way to boost your CV while getting real-life work experience, this is the programme for you.
You don’t need any prior qualifications or work history, just enthusiasm and a commitment to making the most of the opportunity.
